What: A Hand Chime* Workshop sponsored by the St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church Music Program and led by Nick Hanson

When: Monday, February 28, 2022, 7:30 – 9 pm in the Fellowship Hall

Who8th grade – Adult  (Some familiarity with music reading would be helpful)

*Hand chimes are musical instruments which are rung by hand, similar to handbells. Typically, they are tuned square tubes with an external clapper mechanism. Many handbell techniques can also be applied to hand chimes. The chimes are easier to play and require less maintenance.

Nick Hanson, Workshop Clinician
Nick Hanson received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University, Irvine, California, as a major in music with a concentration in handbells. He has been a member of the faculty at the Potomac School in McLean, Virginia, for over 15 years, where he teaches handbells to 5th–12th grade students in five different handbell ensembles, as well as teaches private lessons. He is also the handbell director at Bush Hill Presbyterian Church in Alexandria, Virginia. 

Along with technique, participants will learn music for a possible future performance.
